How To Cook Chicken Wings in the Instant Pot Pour water into the base of your pot.  You need to use the rack that comes with your Instant Pot to make sure the wings stay out of the water.  If the wings are in the water they will be mushy and not very good.  Season your chicken wings before adding them to the pot.  I like to use season salt and just toss the wings in the salt.  Next you just put the lid on and set the pressure cooker for 10 minutes.  Once the time is up, I like to use the natural release for 5 minutes and then quick release to finish. After the wings are cooked you toss them in the sauce so they are nice and well coated.   This next step is optional, but I think it makes them taste just like traditional wings.  Place the coated wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet and place under the boiler for a few minutes.  This gets the skin crispy and makes them crunchy and extra tasty!  Making chicken wings in the instant pot is so easy and so much faster than the traditional method.  I have made Baked Chicken Wings before and they turn out crispy and delicious as well, but can take about an hour in the oven.  These take just 15 minutes in the pressure cooker and then a few minutes under the broiler.  So they are simple and easy for anyone to make.  How to cook fresh or thawed chicken wings in the instant pot?   For fresh or thawed chicken wings will cook for 10 minutes and then use the natural release method for 5 minutes.  Can I cook Frozen Wings in the Instant Pot Yes, you definitely can!  The seasoning doesn’t stick as well to frozen wings, so I sprinkle a little on the top before putting the lid on.  Cook frozen wings for 15 minutes and then use the natural release for 5 minutes.  Tips for Buffalo Chicken Wings Make sure you use the trivet rack your instant pot came with.  If you don’t have one, place aluminum foil on the bottom for the wings to sit on, so they are not sitting in the water.  You do not need to broil the chicken wings. It makes them crispy and taste more like the traditional version, so that is up to you. Be careful when you are taking the wings out of the pressure cooker.  I like to use tongs and remove them one at a time.  You don’t want to pour them out and have all the water come out, and you want to make sure that the meat stays on the bone and doesn’t fall off or lose any skin.  Toss with your favorite sauce.  You can use whatever sauce you like. Buffalo sauce is traditional and my favorite, but if you like barbecue sauce or something different that works equally as well!   More Instant Pot Dinner Recipes to Try Instant Pot Jambalaya Instant Pot Pork Tacos Instant Pot Tortilla Soup Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin Instant Pot Beef Stew Instant Pot Chicken Tacos Instant Pot Pulled Pork Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches Continue to Content I created a fun group on Facebook, and I would love for you to join us! It’s a place where you can share YOUR favorite recipes, ask questions, and see what’s new at Dinners, Dishes and Desserts (so that you never miss a new recipe)!
