  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups (12.25 oz/350 g) sugar
  • 1 cup (3.5 oz/100 g) sifted cake flour
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 16 large egg whites (see note above: 2 liquid cups/17 oz/480 g)
  • 2 t cream of tartar
