Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe
by Zerrin

Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies make a perfect breakfast when you have to go out fast on weekday mornings. So chewy, spiced with pumpkin spice and loaded with raisins, oatmeal and walnuts, these cookies make everyone’s taste buds satisfied. After making these cookies like hundreds of times for different group of people, changing something in the recipe each time, I think I’ve found the best of it. In the first version, I didn’t use any nuts but I’ve discovered that nuts like almonds or walnuts make these even chewier and yummier. Also, I saw that using less butter doesn’t change anything in their texture or taste. So I’m updating the recipe with my final adjustments and with two new photos. Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are the first cookies my 18-month old son tasted and I can proudly say that he loved these! One of his favorite things these days is to learn new words and these cookies helped him say “kurabiye”, Turkish name for cookies. Well, he can already pronounce the word “cookies”. No idea how he acquired it. Most probably he heard it when his mom and dad were discussing on a cookie recipe. The little one in the family loved these Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies so much that he asked for them to at breakfast with honeyed milk for three mornings and also to end up his lunch as a dessert. He even has a photo with his only favorite cookies. Follow me at instagram and see it if you haven’t yet! You can guess I didn’t want to make him fill his stomach with cookies when he had a scrumptious lunch like Stuffed Zucchini or Pumpkin Stew. These are one of the chewiest cookies I’ve ever made! And I owe a lot to these cookies because they had another benefit on my precious son. Although I tried several methods to make him eat raisins, he didn’t like any. He loved the raisins in this cookies though. He even picked them in the cookies with his little fingers and enjoyed eating. You know raisins help prevent iron-deficiency anemia and in weight gain. So these cookies will definitely on top of my cookie list and will be making it quite often. I will increase the amount of raisins next time though. If your kid has such problems and you want him to eat raisins, do try this recipe with more raisins. Making these Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies is so easy. I didn’t use any device to combine the ingredients. I just mix everything with my one hand, which I find easier. So it’s important that the butter is softened enough. I didn’t make the cookies very large, so these ingredients made about 3 dozens of cookies. What can you do with that many cookies? You can take some to your students if you are a teacher like me. And it’s a great feeling when you hear that they all loved it and you can imagine how proud I felt when some of them told me that they wanted to give the recipe to their mom. You can keep Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies in an airtight container for 4 days.
