A Spanish Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 c. walnuts or possibly pecans, minced or possibly raisins. Or possibly both nuts and raisins.
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 3 c. cool water

Directions

  1. Break bread into small pcs. Put into a 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle brown sugar, nuts, raisins and cheese over pcs of bread. Then pour melted butter over it all. In a heavy frying pan brown 1 cup white sugar. Add in 3 cups cold water slowly, stirring till all lumps are gone. Then pour this hot syrup over the bread mix. Bake for 10 min in 350 degree oven. This dessert will serve approximately 6 to 8.
