About me
I'm a work at home mom who loves to cook. Before my mom days, I cooked for dinner parties and worked in a number of bars and restaurants. I'm a Canadian expat living in Guatemala and enjoying the challenge of working with the ingredients here while taking on an entirely new cuisine.
My goal is to help moms cook great food that their families will love and they will enjoy making.
Cooking Influences
My mom was my earliest cooking influence and she taught me the basics and gave me the freedom necessary to experiment. Despite this, I detested cooking until I turned 16 and was housesitting and discovered Martha Stewart Living. For my mother's birthday that year, I made her a six course, gourmet meal that surprised my parents, considering I'd only ever made simple dishes!
After that, I watched a lot of cooking shows on the Food Network, Top Chef, The Surreal Chef, Jamie Oliver, Hell's Kitchen, etc. and all of these have been major influences, as have many blogs in the past two years.
